Our Support team put together this guide to help you get ready for your busiest sales periods. It covers practical ways to set up offers, spot common issues early, and contact Support quickly if something goes wrong.

Best practices

Getting faster support

  • Live chat support is available between 10 AM and 5 PM EST, Monday through Friday. You can access it from the lower left chat icon in your app admin.

  • Screenshots and short videos that show the issue are a huge help. Tools like loom.com are a great way to share examples with us.

  • Including links to specific products or orders that demonstrate an issue will get you faster support since it allows us to test any issue immediately.

  • If you're using Shopify's collaborator access codes be sure to share the code with us in your first message so that we can send you the proper permissions right away.

  • Collaborator access requests are automatically sent by Shopify to the account owner’s email. You can also approve this request by going into your shop’s admin Settings > Users and permissions. Please be prepared to approve our request.

Start early

Planning in advance gives you peace of mind and runs a better sale. Start testing your offers early; the earlier the better, but at the very latest a few weeks before your sale begins.

For example: If you’re preparing for a busy Christmas holiday sale that starts at the beginning of December, build and test your sale no later than mid November.

This gives you enough time to check for issues, or contact us to get those resolved. When testing make sure:

  • The steps to redeem your offer or discount code are clear and visible to your customers. Check your marketing and app messaging to communicate any required steps a customer may need to take.

  • Understand clearly how different discounts combine and test different combinations where possible. Issues can arise when you have more than one app installed on your store or multiple promotions running.

  • Prepare your sales as early as possible. Test them regularly prior to the sale.

  • If you notice an issue reach out to our support team in advance of the start of your sale. This ensures we have extra time to get your sale ready for your customers.

Test like one of your customers

You know your shop better than anyone, but your customers could be visiting your store for the first time. If a step for redeeming an offer isn't clear customers could miss seeing discounts and you could miss out on a larger sale.

When testing, pretend you’re a first time customer. This can help catch issues with your setup before customers arrive. After each round of changes, test again to ensure everything still works. Testing in an incognito window can give a clearer idea of how the shop will work for a first-time visitor.

Keep a change log

Keep a change log as you update your store leading up to launch. If something breaks, you can quickly identify what changed and when. Shopify's theme editor also provides a tool to allow you to revert files back to their previous states.

Make it a habit to also create theme backups regularly. Having a backup theme ready can save you time and help keep your store running smoothly.

Avoid editing app code

If you need custom styling for anything related to our apps, contact Support first so changes don't silently break during a sale.

We may not be able to implement or support any code changes/customizations, but we’ll always try to point you in the right direction. If you do need to make any changes to code, make sure to create and use a duplicate theme and have your developer on hand to check all changes.

Uninstalling & reinstalling

We strongly recommend you never uninstall or reinstall our apps to try and fix a problem. Doing this will wipe all your saved offers, discounts, and settings forcing you to setup the app again from scratch. We don’t store or save this info so we cannot restore any deleted settings or offers if you uninstall.

If you’re thinking about trying this, always reach out and connect with one of our support agents before you do.

Tips for using USO: Ultimate Special Offers

Simplify

Running too many offers at once can lead to unexpected results. To avoid this, keep your offers simple.

Ultimate Special Offers can run different types of offers at one time, but running simple offers makes it easier for your customers to redeem them.

  • Simplify the list of trigger conditions for your offers. For example, create collections containing your trigger products and target those specifically rather than targeting "all collections". Do the same for your offered products. This will keep this offer’s targets in convenient places which makes them easier to manage and easier for customers to find.

  • Simplify your shop too. Be aware that drawer carts and checkout shortcuts may bypass the app and cause customers to miss your offer.

  • Consider pausing other apps or customizations that don't drive sales to help your shop load as quickly as possible so you can give your customers a great experience.

  • If you're using Shopify markets, make sure to check our guide on how to use markets and Ultimate Special Offers together.

What’s popular

Not sure where to get started? These are some of our app’s most popular, and most successful offer types.

The BOGO and Bundle offers are easy to set up and perform well during busy sale periods. Or you could consider the very flexible Volume offer, which is very flexible and excels at helping you to sell more of specific products. Ultimate Special Offers provides many options for you to create the perfect sale.

Stick to one app and one discount at a time

In most cases, Shopify can apply only one app’s discount per order. If you use multiple discount apps, test your offers carefully and consider pausing other apps you are not using during BFCM.

Note: Although you should only use one discount app at a time, you can combine multiple offers, and offer discount codes that can increase a customer’s savings.

Adding a new app can also cause code conflicts so be sure to duplicate your theme before installing any new app. Creating a backup of your theme allows you to easily revert the shop to a working state if you notice an issue.

Once you have all your offers setup, test them in combination to ensure they display on your cart page and checkout.

Tips for using B2B Wholesale Hub

Schedule changes in advance of sale periods

Plan ahead for the time it takes to update prices, especially if you have many different discount tiers or a very large product catalog. Finalize your edits ideally a week before your sale to give them time to sync properly. Try to also plan to edit everything at once with a single CSV upload, which will sync faster than multiple rounds of edits.

If you’re using the legacy version of our app, changes to your discounts will take some time to be applied. This process is called syncing, which is covered in our guide on syncing here. Be sure to account for this wait time when making larger batches of edits and complete them in advance of your big sale. Ideally, do this the weekend before if possible.

Offer a discount code for special sales

Rather than editing your discounts or custom prices, consider offering your B2B customers a special discount code instead. By doing this you avoid the need to edit your regular pricing temporarily, and avoid having to wait for syncs to complete for those edits to apply. These extra discounts will easily combine with your app discount on your shop’s cart page.

To setup a discount code to combine with your existing app discounts, please follow this guide that details all of the steps.

Offer a volume discount on top of existing rates

If providing a discount code is not appealing, consider creating a volume discount to offer your customers additional savings.

Custom prices backups

It never hurts to have extra backups of your prices to reference if needed. Download a backup CSV of your Custom Prices in advance of your sale. Just in case you need to reference older prices or revert changes quickly, having an extra CSV will help. This will also help you restore prices faster when it’s time to revert any special seasonal rates your business offers.

Our newest features

You may find some of our new features released this year could help with your holiday sales. We’re working on rolling out optional upgrade paths to all merchants, but new installs get access to the newest app version automatically.

Important notice: Uninstalling and reinstalling the app will grant you immediate access to this new version however it will delete all existing settings, custom prices, and discounts. This can also cancel and remove access to any legacy subscription plans.

These cannot be recovered if you uninstall and reinstall B2B Wholesale Hub. Always contact support before attempting uninstalling or reinstalling B2B Wholesale Hub.

Some of our new features include:

Typically we recommend waiting until slower periods to make bigger changes like this, so consider these options in advance of your sale or after the busy holiday season has passed.

Tips for using Pixelpop

Promote existing offers

Pixelpop can excel at clearly directing steps to customers. You can use it to promote specific offers from Ultimate Special Offers as soon as customers arrive at your shop. Or you could also use it to communicate specific steps customers need to take to get your offer. It’s also great at sharing new visitor discount codes, changes to your B2B Wholesale Hub program, or other offers of all kinds.

Choose the best popup for your sale

Pixelpop offers many different popup types to choose from and each offers different utility for your sale.

  • Announcement popups are simple popups that can communicate specific steps to customers on a variety of pages. Need a reminder for customers to login right away to access their special offers? This popup can handle that for you.

  • Page Promotion popups include a call to action that can direct customers to new, or specific products. If you’re offering a bundle or BOGO on some products, this is a great way to direct customers to those options quickly.

  • Coupon Code popups are great for clearly sharing discount codes on various pages.

Happy selling!
