The Volume offer type will give customers tiered discounts when they buy products in higher quantities. Check out the video below for an overview of this offer type, and keep reading for step-by-step instructions.
Step 1: Name your offer
Each offer requires a Name before it can be saved. You can also choose to have your offer Enabled or Disabled on the storefront.
Step 2: Set up the Volume offer
Choose items to discount
If you choose a single product or variant, the customer will be required to purchase quantities of that particular product in order to receive the discount. If you choose multiple items or a collection, the customer will be able to select any combination of those items to receive the discount.
Note: Products used as offer targets must have fewer than 250 variants.
Set up your price tiers and discounts
Assign the quantity and discount amount for the first tier of the offer. You can choose whether the offer will use a percentage discount, dollar amount discount, or assign a new price per item. A Volume table will show on applicable product pages showing the details of your offer.
Discount percentage: Set a percentage-based discount for the offer.
Example: For the Oversized Fique Net Bag, get 10% off when you buy 2, 15% when you buy 3, and 20% when you buy 4 or more.
Discount amount: Set a dollar-based discount for the offer.
Example: For the Oversized Fique Net Bag, get $2 off when you buy 2, $4 off when you buy 3, and $8 off when you buy 4 or more.
New price: Set a new price per item for the offer.
Example: Get the Oversized Fique Net Bag for $24.00 each when you buy 2, $22.00 each when you buy 3, and $20.00 each when you buy 4 or more.
Click add another tier to set up each tier of the offer.
🔔 Make sure the discount type is consistent for each tier of the offer.
Set the Volume discount type
Choose between three types of discount:
Per product variant: Each variant of a product is checked against the volume tiers. For example, to meet a volume tier of 3, a customer would need to purchase 3 of a given variant.
Per product: Products are checked against the volume tiers. For example, if a customer purchases 3 variants from product X and 2 variants from product Y, it will only count as 2 for the volume tiers.
Per entire product selection: Both products and variants are checked against the volume tiers. For example, if a customer purchases 3 different variants from the same product and 2 additional products, it will count as 5 for the volume tiers.
Step 3: Toggle sale badges and edit offer messages
Turn sale badges on or off using the toggle in your Offer settings. Learn how to customize sale badges: customizing sale badges.
Offer messaging can be adjusted too.
The Product page message will show on your product page as the title of your Volume table. This table will advertise the details of your offer.
The Progress message will show on the cart page when a customer has added applicable products and will tell them how to reach the next tier.
The Success message will show on the cart page when a customer reaches one of your volume tiers.
💡 If you've targeted specific variants in your offer, make sure this is reflected in your messages.
Step 4: Set up your offer availability
Use the Availability section to schedule your offer and choose who can use it. Learn more about offer availability: offer availability.
Step 5: Preview your offer
After saving your offer, click the eye icon in the Ultimate Special Offers dashboard to preview the offer on your storefront.
Why is my volume offer discount showing the wrong price?
Check whether the product is included in more than one offer. Look for other offers (Volume or other types) that target the same product/variant/collection.
Temporarily disable other offers that include the product, then test again to confirm the conflict.
If the product must be eligible for multiple offers, review your applying discounts setting and ensure it’s configured to allow Volume discounts to apply as intended.
If you are using other discount apps, be sure to disable them when testing. Overlapping discounts from other apps will often lead to issues with pricing, and can prevent Ultimate Special Offers from triggering.
