This doc explains the Alliance Pro “Customer Segment Groups” segment template in Shopify—what it does, when to use it, and how to find the Member Group ID the template needs.
What this is
Alliance Pro includes a Shopify customer segment template (labeled “created by Alliance Pro”) that lets you build a segment based on member group membership (for example: “customers in group X”).
Before it works, you need to paste in the Member Group ID for the member group you want to target.
What it’s for
Customer segments in Shopify are dynamic lists of customers that update automatically based on rules.
Use cases (examples):
Targeted marketing: send campaigns to just that group (for example: emails to members of a specific tier).
Customer insights: report on a subset of customers (for example: “how many customers are in group X?”).
Automation (Shopify Flow): trigger workflows when a customer is in a segment (or joins it, depending on your Flow setup).
Where to find it in Shopify
In Shopify Admin, go to Customers → Segments
Create a new segment (or open an existing one)
Choose Templates
Select the template labeled created by Alliance Pro
How to find/copy the Member Group ID
You can copy the Member Group ID from the Alliance Pro admin:
From the member groups list
Open Alliance Pro admin
Go to Preferences → Member groups
In the group list, select Copy next to the group to copy the Group ID
How to use the template (end-to-end)
In Customers → Segments, insert the Alliance Pro segment template.
Paste in the Member Group ID for the member group you want to target.
Save the segment and run it.
Quick check: add or remove a customer from that member group and confirm the segment updates.
