Why do I need to remove PayPal from the cart page?

Ultimate Special Offers relies on movement from the cart page to the checkout in order to properly apply discounts. When express checkout options such as PayPal Express, ShopPay, GPay, Apple Pay, or "Buy Now" buttons are used on the cart page, customers are redirected directly to an offsite checkout, bypassing the Shopify checkout process where discounts would normally be applied.

Some additional checkout buttons can be disabled in your theme editor, but others on the cart page need to be manually hidden in your theme. Reach out to our support team if you want assistance with this. The recommended solution is to disable express checkout options on the cart page while keeping them enabled on the final checkout page. This ensures that:

  1. Customers proceed through the discount validation process

  2. All discounts are properly applied before payment

  3. Customers can still use their preferred payment method at checkout Customers will still be able to pay with all express checkout services, including PayPal, when they reach the checkout page, and their discounts will be properly honored.
